Career saved after a “positive” urinalysis
Navy Chief (E-7) takes a urinalysis in his 19th year of service. The results come back positive for marijuana. Commander does not give the Chief of option of trial by court-martial, but rather punishes the Chief at Mast (nonjudicial punishment) and then the matter goes to an administrative separation board. Team McLain marshals character and alibi witnesses at the administrative separation hearing, and the board makes unanimous finding of no misconduct. Chief's career, and retirement are saved.
