Navy Commander wins case before Board of Inquiry

A Navy Commander, who lead a large unit on the West Coast, was accused of cheating on physical fitness tests and then lying about the cheating.  A long career of honorable and faithful service was in danger of being sullied by charges the Commander adamantly denied. The charges arose from an investigation report that, despite its apparent flaws, was used by the Commander's superiors to try to coerce him into accepting punishment or a forced retirement.  The Commander stood his ground and enlisted Team McLain to fight for him. We investigated on our own and found flaws in the statements from the investigation. When we presented our work to the Board of Inquiry, which could have recommended forced retirement at a lower grade, the three members of the Board voted in favor of the Commander which resulted in his retention in the Navy.
